Let the people play
Monday, June 4, 2012 at 7:49AM Let people waste time with social tools. Don't ban them or bury them in rules. Encourage people to play and discover how they work.
When they get bored they'll start to do real work in a way you never imagined possible.

That is the trust we seek from orgs. Trust the people they hire to make the right choices with their attention for the ultimate benefit of the Org... the problem is most Orgs won't wait for their folks to get bored.
Indeed - impatience is currently a real problem. People need the time to rediscover their voices.
I confessed once to my manager that we regularly didn't do much on days when an off-site team I shared a room with came back to the office.
He said "Do you eventually get around to sorting each others' problems out?" When I said yes, he said "Well stop worrying".
If only he could be cloned ...
A breeding programme!
